The Big Rose folder is the epitome of bold craftsmanship; a gentleman’s pocket knife that transcends the ordinary. Adorned with intricate file work, dual-colored engravings, and a fusion of blade and front bolster, this masterpiece exudes sophistication.

The mammoth handle, a canvas for captivating dual-colored engravings, is inspired by the clean lines of modern architecture and the graceful curves of nature’s flora. The bold “Rose” pattern commands the spotlight with its undeniable allure.

But elegance is not the only virtue of this folder. With the inclusion of the back-lock locking system, safety meets sophistication, offering peace of mind without compromising on style.

Good Grip

Good Grip

A traditional Nordic hunting and fishing knife with a delicately carved checkered handle. 21 cm. long.

To prevent ones hand from slipping on the handle, I decided to carve an entire area of in a checkered area for a better grip. The sheath is a regular Nordic style made from semi-tanned leather with additional air brush paint applied in a faded design.

The North Sea

The North Sea

A large yet compact folding knife with water-blue mammoth tusk bark and engraved details. Liner lock locking system. 18.5 cm long.

For a very long time I have kept a piece of water-blue mammoth tusk once caught in a fisherman’s net in the North Sea in my office drawer. A client of mine expressed interest in the special color, so why not give it a try?

To accomplish the special blue color in the mammoth I selected anodized liners in an open knife case. To give the knife a unique sparkling gloss I filed a pattern on the liners. The handle decoration was created as a Samic pattern and colored blue. All kept together with small gold plated screws. The locking system is safe and activated with your thumb.

The knife is sturdy and relevant for outdoor use in all situations. The folding knife should be carried in a case attached to a belt.

The Square

The Square

This large yet compact folding knife was a custom creation for the 2018 Ludvika Show in Sweden, where it won 1st prize in the Folding Knives Category. The idea was to create a handy hunting tool with a slip joint locking system, and a small, built-in finger stop to avoid physical injury if the grip slipped.

For decoration I composed a Samic-inspired engraving consisting of repeated squares, triangles and fine lines. The unique Damascus steel knife blade has a beautiful rose pattern that complements the rare materials. As the components came together, the final knife revealed itself to be simple, functional and full of high-quality artistry.

This custom knife – named “Morten” after the Norwegan metal smith Morten Håkonsen—was a unique opportunity to experiment with a variety of materials to best complement the striking blue-tinted knife blade.

The final choice of materials for the knife handle was limited to blue-tinted Brazilian rosewood burl, aluminum spacer, and stabilized mammoth tusk. The result is a bold look that highlights the unique color and metalwork of the blade.

Deer Hunter

This custom deer hunting knife was a unique challenge. The goal was to create a cohesive design—with the entire handle looking as if it was made from a single material—combined with the practicality of a traditional and highly functional hunting tool.

For the assignment I selected a piece of beech wood with a delicate touch of rot; the color perfectly matched the pieces of mammoth tusk I had in stock. The leather sheath was dyed to complete the uniform look and I incorporated a stamped pattern known as an American folding design. No more ornamentation was required and the look is unique yet simple.

Scrimshaw Deer

The custom Scrimshaw Deer hunting knife was a unique challenge; merging the distinct materials of buffalo and mammoth with the forged steel blade made by skilled craftsman Mattias Styrefors from Sweden. The goal was to create a cohesive overall design expressed in a practical hunting tool.

The idea for a scrimshaw design came to me during a walk in a local forest that was known to be the home of a spectacular white deer. The elusive animal was captured by a photographer friend of mine one very early morning, and rumor has it that the deer is still running in the woods along with several of his calves.

Drawing on the inspiration that nature provides is an enjoyable way to compose my knife designs. Buffalo horn or mammoth tusk are rare materials—definitely not native to Denmark—but I appreciate the opportunity to use such beautiful and sustainably sourced products in a modern composition.

This folding knife was a custom creation for a knife-making colleague. The idea was to create a compact folding knife with a slip joint locking system so the user would be in compliance with the Danish legal regulations for pocket knives.

For decoration I surrounded the border of the knife handle with a delicate engraving pattern consisting of small half-circles, triangles, and dots that together resembled graphic flowers. In the middle of the handle I engraved two small figures. Tying it all together is a very thin engraved line placed one millimeter from the edge of the handle.

The unique Damascus steel knife blade has a beautiful rose pattern that complements the rare mammoth tusk material and the intricate engraving. All put together, the knife and sheath present an example of simple, functional, and high-quality artistry.

This folding knife was a custom creation for the 2017 Ludvika Show in Sweden, where it won 1st prize in the Folding Knives Class. The idea was to create a compact hunting tool with a slip joint locking system, and a small, built-in finger stop to avoid damage if the grip slipped.

For decoration I drafted an image of the American eagle. I scrimshawed the design in black on the knife front and white on the back. This choice was challenging to execute since it is always difficult to scrim in white on a brownish mammoth tusk. When working with natural pieces of horn the shape of the bone may not allow for corrections or alterations; you select the materials and the shape of the knife itself develops organically.

The unique Damascus steel knife blade has a beautiful rose pattern that complements the rare materials. Together, the knife is simple, functional and full of high-quality artistry.
