To prevent ones hand from slipping on the handle, I decided to carve an entire area of in a  checkered area for a better grip. The sheath is a regular Nordic style made from semi-tanned leather with additional air brush paint applied in a faded design.

For a very long time I have kept a piece of water-blue mammoth tusk once caught in a fisherman’s net in the North Sea in my office drawer. A client of mine expressed interest in the special color, so why not give it a try?

To accomplish the special blue color in the mammoth I selected anodized liners in an open knife case. To give the knife a unique sparkling gloss I filed a pattern on the liners. The handle decoration was created as a Samic pattern and colored blue. All kept together with small gold plated screws. The locking system is safe and activated with your thumb.

The knife is sturdy and relevant for outdoor use in all situations. The folding knife should be carried in a case attached to a belt.

To choose a scrimshaw design from all the exciting animals of the world is always a challenge. But for those people who enjoy fishing, salmon and trout are in a league of their own. The heron is a unique and rarely seen bird, and not a target for hunting.

The knife is usable for all purposes as it fits well in your hand, and the blade – stainless Damasteel from Söderfors, Sweden – is extremely sharp. The iron wood will last for the lifetime of the knife. Some of the scrimshaw might be worn out over the years. The sheath is yellow-brown to match the handle with a little part stamped.

Swedish elk horn, an engraved handle, masur birch with its curly wood, and a very thin piece of aluminum came together with a 9.5 cm glossy stainless blade to create a knife emitting lightness and beauty. 

The handle consists of curved lines utilizing three different engraving patterns connected in a way that mimics delicate French lace. The masur birch is c­­olored red brown and surrounded by a thin piece of aluminum giving a fine white distance to the engraving. 

To complete the knife a semi-tanned sheath was created. The sheath continues the curved shape of the knife, and airbrush technique was used for the coloration.

I was fortunate to be presented with the opportunity to buy a special forged blade made by Mattias Styrfors and Johnny Walker. The unique pattern, a spider in two sizes forged into two other patterns, became the inspiration for the knife titled the Spider. 

Since the blade is rather large the sheath had to be made from a high-quality piece of masur birch and reindeer horn. Locating suitable pieces of white reindeer horn that were also large enough to match the size of the blade–like the spider net that was made by a single piece of reindeer horn—proved quite challenging, simply because those dimensions are rare to find. 

Inside the handle through the spider holes you can see pieces of reindeer horn with engravings. On top of the sheath you see the belt shoving the initials, knife number and month/year of production.

For decoration I composed a Samic-inspired engraving consisting of repeated squares, triangles and fine lines. The unique Damascus steel knife blade has a beautiful rose pattern that complements the rare materials. As the components came together, the final knife revealed itself to be simple, functional and full of high-quality artistry.

This elegant folding knife was created to be part of a series of slim designs totaling three knives with similar looks but distinctly different handles. The compact size makes it perfect for a variety of purposes ranging from picnics to garden work to hunting expeditions.

The knife handle is the unique-looking Sambar deer antler; it’s both rustic and modern, and almost resembles marble. The knife blade is a simple stainless Damascus steel with a soft rose pattern. The unique Damascus steel knife blade has a beautiful rose pattern that complements the rare materials. The only decoration is the file work on the liners. All put together, the knife is simple, functional and full of high-quality artistry.

The final choice of materials for the knife handle was limited to blue-tinted Brazilian rosewood burl, aluminum spacer, and stabilized mammoth tusk. The result is a bold look that highlights the unique color and metalwork of the blade.
